Travel: First Trip - Genting Highlands (Part 1 of 3)

Right after National Service, I (Shanon) went to KDU University College located in Petaling Jaya, Selangor for Western Australian Matriculation while Bel continued with Form 6 (which is something foundation in Malaysia) at St. Thomas High School in Kuching, Sarawak. We kept in touch and even video calls using MSN or Skype almost every single night.

Then one day, Bel decided to come and visit me with her sister, Tina.

This was our first trip together. I met them at their eldest sister's condominium which was located somewhere near where I stayed at the time. We stayed a night before travelling up to Genting Highlands with some of Tina's high school friends.

We took a bus to Genting Highlands. Honestly, I strongly suggest otherwise if you are prone to motion sickness. Anyways, we arrived safely although a bit wobbly and got a suite at the Awana Genting Resort.

Selfie!

After we had found our suite and got settled, we went out to explore and something to eat before night fell.

Took a picture of our suite door because we were afraid we'd forget the number.

Happy duo taking pictures at the golf course at the resort.

The next morning, Bel went all ape when we found a rope swing at a nearby park.

Tarzan: Jane?

We found a mini petting zoo there too!

Chickens are funny.

Ducks are smelly.

Rabbits are adorable.

Adorable.

What a view...

We took a cable car to the higher part of Genting Highlands where the shops, theme park and casino were at. It took about ten to fifteen minutes to get there. (Remember: Go to the toilet first before taking the cable car!) It stops suspended in the middle of nowhere every once in awhile. These are some of the pictures we took at the theme park:

Baskin Robbins on sale!

Brrr....

Ahh.. Much better.

In a nutshell, Genting Highlands is a getaway for the whole family. Parents could go shopping or to the casinos or could even join their kids, toddler or teen, at the Genting Highlands Theme Park enjoying their time on (indoor and/or outdoor) rides. Any which option you choose, money will still have to come out of your pocket somehow.

If you are planning to go to Genting Highlands right now, just know that the theme park is closed because it is now under new management. I heard that it will most probably be reopened in 2015.
