Kuching: Damai Beach Resort and Permai Rainforest Resort

Kuching is a city located near a river. However, people like Bel and I love the beach and the nearest one is about an hour drive away depending on the traffic and weather. Right after our final exams ended, we took off straight towards the closest shoreline, Damai Beach Resort.

There were a lot of people there at the time because of the school holidays. However, not many went into the water because it was jellyfish season but we didn't see a single one the whole time we were there.

Bel happy with the water temperature.

Bel's attempt at a cool yoga pose.

We drove to Permai Rainforest Resort which is further down the shoreline. It is said that dolphins could be spotted from the beach of this resort so we were really excited and had high expectations of this resort mainly based on their main website. But our high expectations were soon quickly diminished.

There were no signs to show where the resort was actually located, only one right outside the parking area. The parking available for the public was located pretty far from the main entrance which also had no signs to show where it was, so we practically just walked blindly.

The receptionists were really rude and disrespectful to us, maybe because we were only students who were visiting there to visit but still. The walk to the beach was really freaky. We actually didn't think anything of it when we saw monkeys jumping around in the tree branches above us but as they got closer to us, it was really intimidating. They kept their eyes on us the whole time and chased us, literally. We managed to get to the beach unharmed but shaken.

One of the little minions.

The beach was clean and the water was clear. Unlike the beach at Damai Beach Resort, this beach was deserted except for a family of five and the two of us. It was really nice.

They even offered water activities.

We decided to check out the "treehouses" that Permai Rainforest Resort offered. In the pictures we saw on their website, the "treehouses" look really interesting and cool. But when we were there it looked quite unsafe and some of them even looked a bit unstable. If you think I'm just saying that because I'm afraid of heights, think again because I'm not afraid of heights. I used to be a synchronize diver.

Anyways, if you like long walks and being in a secluded area with wild animals. This is the place for you!
